We’re in the thick of a particularly chilly winter — unexpected after the last few winters’ warmth (thanks, global warming!) — so today’s throwback is a lovely reminisce about warmer times. Our Last Christmas As A Trio in Atlantic City!
It’s been a few years since we’ve stayed on our home turf for Christmas. Last year, we were in California visiting my parents and a heap of cousins from India, who insisted on doing every tradition we knew about Christmas….
On Christmas Traditions: Lying To Our 3-year-old About Santa Claus and Other Rules of Being a Good Parent

The Paranoid Traveller’s Data Backup Strategy
A few days after me and Sona returned from our six month honeymoon to India in 2007, our hard drive – a bulky Maxtor 350GB – failed, making that dreaded click of death. Data recovery experts quoted prices of $1500, which…
Eat This Page: British Blueberry Lemon Scones, Innit.
Scones. It couldn’t be anything else this morning. I wake up to the sounds of pitter patter on the air-conditioner, whose arse hangs outside the window. The first definitive indication that it’s raining. Most people would grumble because of rain…

Kavya insisted on going outside this morning to “investigate” the snow falling outside. She hadn’t eaten breakfast, and grabbed a couple slices of pepperoni from the kitchen table before hoisting herself up onto my shoulders, creating an interesting dish –…
Photo Friday: Sunrise in Hawaii’s Haleakala National Park
There’s nothing like celebrating Christmas in Hawaii, with its warm beaches, crystal blue waters, constant sunshine, and gorgeous sunrises, like this one I took in the early morning at Haleakala National Park in Mauii.
Jet Lag is Stupid And Other Helpful Advice When Traveling With A Little Human
We took Kavya on her first visit to California when she was a little over three months old, to Hawaii when she was under 2, and she’s always adapted to the local time pretty quickly. She sees sunlight and is down…
Photo Friday: Sona On Top Of The World in Hawaii
This is how we spent Christmas in Hawaii, soaring above the blue of the ocean. This year will probably be a little different . . .
